Water and Wastewater Facilities
The Township of Minden Hills owns a water pumping and distribution system and a wastewater treatment plant and collection system in the Town of Minden. These facilities are under contract to the Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) for the operation and maintenance only. The water is supplied from two wells and chlorinated prior to being pumped to the distribution system. The wastewater treatment plant is an extended aeration activated sludge process with tertiary treatment and has a capacity of 945 m3 / day and a peak flow of 3410 m3 / day. The effluent is treated with chlorine prior to entering the Gull River. There is approximately 13,000 meters each of water distribution and sewer collection infrastructure in the systems. Fire hydrants are provided throughout the Town of Minden. The Township of Minden Hills is in the process of reviewing the extension of both the water distribution and sewer collection systems in order to accommodate further growth within the Town of Minden.
