Welcome to Minden Hills

Minden Hills warmly welcomes you to the gateway of Haliburton County through its website. We are located two and a half hours north east of Toronto and a relaxing scenic drive north of the Region of Durham.

Minden Hills is enchantingly rural and we are very proud of our heritage; however, we are also an extremely progressive township which is reflected in our recently completed projects; namely our newly constructed 5,000 square foot library expansion, our expanded Cultural Centre and R.D. Lawrence Place, our completed Minden Riverwalk loop-trail that hugs the shores of the spectacular Gull River and delights visitors as it meanders through the Village of Minden, as well as the many sculptures completed by very talented local artists and carvers. Construction of a new floating snowmobile bridge at the Peck Street boat launch, as well as an elevated Water Tower is scheduled for early January 2010. Subsequent to the completion of this latter project, we look forward to welcoming the construction of a new Canadian Tire store and Marks Work Wearhouse.

In addition to the above, Minden Hills is in the process of investigating the preparation of a new Economic Development Plan that will provide a vision and help steer our community for the next ten years. A new 1.5 km wetland boardwalk project is also underway this year - running north from the Minden Riverwalk to the Minden Hills Cultural Centre and Community Centre/Arena. This project also includes new sidewalks and benches down Bobcaygeon Road from Parkside Crescent, making it easier for seniors and those less agile to access the retail shops in Minden Village. New residential development is underway as well, within walking distance to the Village of Minden and the Haliburton Highlands Health Services Hospital.

We welcome you to our neighbourhood and are eager for you to visit and explore everything that Minden Hills has to offer - take time to relax, browse and enjoy the many "life" qualities we have to offer, from the magnificent natural environment (natural water falls, parks, trails, white water paddling, gem/rock hunting, sightseeing, bird watching, etc.) to the activities and events vigorously planned for your family's fun year-round.
