ArenaThe S.G. Nesbitt Memorial Arena is open for ice rentals from July through until Easter. Our large, non-smoking, community centre offers rooms for small gatherings and our large room for weddings. Our capacity for liquor licensed events is 343 persons and our ice surface area is available for rent from May to mid-July.ParksMinden Hills has many different parks for your enjoyment and public beaches are available at Twelve Mile Beach, Bissett Beach, Horseshoe Lake, Forsters Beach and Rotary Park (some with Pavillions). Other Parks that offer beautiful scenery are Furnace Falls, Panarama Park, Lutterworth Park, the nature trails at the beautiful Snowdon Park. If you are interested in walking through Minden, the Minden Community Walking Trail is a loop trail wandering through the natural areas, close by the S.G. Nesbitt Memorial Arena and the Minden Hills Cultural Centre.Four ball diamonds are available for rental. The Minden Fairground is used by our local Kin Club for the Ice Car Race Series in January and February and by various horsemen's associations throughout the warmer seasons. Come and enjoy these or one of our other events held at the Fairgrounds - The Truck Pull and the County Fair just to name a couple. The Fairgrounds are available for rent for other events as well. Poker Lakes - Haliburton Highlands Water TrailsLocated along Highway #118, the Poker Lakes system represents significant remote back-country values as a destination for canoeists, campers, day-trippers, fishermen, hunters and cottagers. Encompassing 1800 hectares, there are 12 lakes, 9 portages and 40 campsites. Effective November 1, 2009 winter camping and rentals for snow-shoeing and skiing will be available.The Haliburton Highlands Water Trails (HHWT) manages our Poker Lakes system along with the Frost Centre area. They are dedicated to the protection and improvement of the canoe routes and camping environment throughout the Haliburton Highlands. Big East Loop This 1-2 day loop starts at Hwy. 118 (Big East Access Point parking lot), continues south through and around picturesque Big East Lake. Big East Lake is a large lake with many arms, bays and islands to explore and fish. The Lake is home to several remote hunt camps. Bentshoe – Crane – Poker – Cinder Loop This 1-2 day backcountry loop starts at Hwy. 118 (Big East Access Point parking lot) crossing the Hwy. to Bentshoe Lake goes northeast into the Crane Lakes, Poker Lake, Muck Lake and then Cinder lake at the north end of the loop. Continue south through Quirt and Ooze Lakes returning to Poker and Bentshoe Lakes.
