The Township of Minden Hills is located in the heart of Haliburton County. The area population is approximately 7,000 permanent residents which increases significantly in the summer months with the influx of cottagers, seasonal residents and visitors.

The Director of Finance is a member of the leadership team reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer. You will provide exceptional leadership to a talented team of finance professionals. As Director, you will be responsible for ensuring that all legislative requirements and the principles of sound financial management are met as well as the administration and oversight of the corporate procurement program. This position, as appointed by Township Council, holds the statutory position of Treasurer as required under the Municipal Act.
The Director of Finance also supports the development and implementation of organizational strategies, technology, best practices, and processes to ensure quality corporate reporting, information management, asset management, and strategic planning. As the financial steward for our municipality, you'll lead modernization initiatives, investment management, strategic financial planning and more, contributing to our forward-thinking culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Management: Provide leadership to department members, fostering a positive culture of accountability, motivation, and performance excellence. Actively contribute to and role model a positive and productive workplace.
- Financial Management: Oversee finance and treasury functions, including budgeting, accounting, reporting, and investments, ensuring compliance with regulations and policies.
- Budget Oversight: Manage operational and capital budgets, business plans, and procurement processes, while exploring funding opportunities and ensuring fiscal responsibility.
- Administrative Leadership: Guide the Finance and Treasury Department in all functions and represent the department in meetings and negotiations.
- Relationship Building: Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders, council members, and external partners to support collaborative initiatives and financial responsibility.
We are seeking a candidate with expertise in financial management, legislation, and leadership, with a keen eye for strategic planning and forecasting. Your qualifications should include a postsecondary degree in accounting or a related field, along with professional designation and significant experience in finance and management roles.

Salary Range: $122,558.80 to $144,034.80
