Subject: Documentary Four Wings and a Prayer on June 19 at the Minden Hills Cultural Centre
The Minden Hills Cultural Centre, in collaboration with the Haliburton County Public Library, will be screening Four Wings and a Prayer (2007) at the Cultural Centre on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.
Directed by Nick de Pencier and based on the book by Sue Halpern, Four Wings and a Prayer is a stunning documentary that explores the mystery, beauty, and survival of one of the world’s most remarkable insects — the Monarch butterfly. Despite weighing less than a paperclip, Monarchs make a 3,000-kilometre journey from Canada to remote mountain forests in Mexico, navigating storms, mountain ranges, and vast distances with awe-inspiring precision. The film blends science and wonder, capturing the enduring mystery of their migration and the urgency of protecting their fragile existence.
This documentary, along with daily crafts and activities, recognizes National Pollinator Week, celebrating the crucial role pollinators play in biodiversity and food security. The screening is free and open to all ages.
The Minden Hills Cultural Centre is located at 176 Bobcaygeon Road, Minden, Ontario. For more information, visit the Cultural Centre’s social media calendar page: https://www.facebook.com/mindenculturalcentre/
