Subject: Pride in the Highlands at the Minden Hills Cultural Centre
In collaboration with Pride in the Highlands, the Minden Hills Cultural Centre will host a series of events to celebrate this year's Pride Week. Taking place on our grounds, this week of programming highlights entertainment, education, and celebration.
Tuesday, August 19
12:30–2:30 p.m. – Documentary Screening of "Any Other Way: The Jackie Shane Story", a powerful documentary exploring the life and legacy of a Black transgender soul singer who gained fame in Toronto during the 1960s. Free admission
3:00–4:00 p.m. – Hosted by the Haliburton County Public Library, Drag Queen Story Time returns with Aunty Plum leading a fun and engaging session for all ages. Free admission
Thursday, August 21
5:30–7:30 p.m. – Ctrl-ART-Del, an emerging theatre group based in Haliburton, will present Hurricane Diane, a dramatic reading of Madeleine George’s insightful play.

Friday, August 22
6:00–8:00 p.m. – Opening Reception of the 2nd Voice of Pride – Join us to celebrate a collaborative exhibition showcasing the work of LGBTQ2S+ artists in the region. The exhibit runs from August 12 to 30 during regular Cultural Centre hours. Admission by donation
