Subject: October 2025 Programs and Events at the Cultural Centre
The Minden Hills Cultural Centre will be offering the following programs and events:
Mid-Autumn Festival Crafts - Join us on Saturday, October 4 at 11:00 a.m. for a family-friendly celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival. Enjoy storytelling, try your hand at Chinese calligraphy, create colourful paper lanterns, and make a felt bunny craft.
Documentary Screening of “A Return to Memory” (2024) - On Thursday, October 9 at 1:00 p.m., the feature-length documentary directed by Donald McWilliams will be screened. The film explores the overlooked contributions of women who helped shape Canadian cinema during World War II.
Haliburton Highlands Genealogy Group Speaker Series – Belinda Wilson - On Tuesday, October 21 at 7:00 p.m., Belinda Wilson will present In the Footsteps of Heroes – Canadian WW2 Battlefields, Memorials & Cemeteries. In recognition of the 80th Anniversary of the end of WW2, she will share stories, songs, and photographs from her Royal Canadian Legion Pilgrimage of Remembrance to France and Belgium. Admission is free, with refreshments available. This event is in collaboration with Haliburton Highlands Genealogy Group.
Traveling Exhibit – When Daylight Comes: The Canadians on D-Day - From October 21 to 24, the Welch Room will feature the traveling exhibition When Daylight Comes, on loan from Honouring Bravery. This six-panel display explores the stories of Canadians who took part in the Allied invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944. Open during Cultural Centre hours (Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.).
PA Day Activities - On Friday, October 24, families are invited to Nature’s Place for seasonal crafts, exhibits, and interactive activities (10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., admission by donation). The day also includes a free movie screening of Disney’s Dinosaur (2000) at 1:00 p.m. in the Welch Room, presented in partnership with the Haliburton County Public Library.
