We are currently seeking highly motivated and energetic individuals to join our Public Works Department as Waste Disposal Site Attendants. Reporting to the Manager of Waste Facilities, the Waste Disposal Site Attendant ensures safe and efficient operations of the Township’s waste disposal sites. This position provides superior customer service to site users and contractors.
Work hours will vary to a maximum of 24 hours per week, depending on availability, and may include weekends and holiday Mondays. Hours of work will be between the hours of 7:30 AM and 7:00 PM, depending on winter and summer hours of operation. The current rate of pay is $20.26/hour.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- One (1) year recent experience in a related position is required, and within a similar setting, is preferred.
- Knowledge of Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks regulations.
- Knowledge of job specific hazards and applicable safety rules.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively multi-task.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and its Regulations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public.
- Ability to process financial transactions as they relate to waste disposal fees.
- Demonstrated high level of initiative, work performance, and responsibility in the performance of duties.
This position involves working outdoors, exposed to weather elements and environmental hazards.
Prior to the final selection for this position, the candidate shall be required to provide, at their own expense, a Background Check from the Ontario Provincial Police or appropriate Police Force.
