Beaches

Minden Hills has a variety of public beaches for your enjoyment both on the Gull River and on our beautiful, clean lakes. Each has a unique setting and amenities. Why not try them all?

Bissett Beach

Located at 14907 Highway 35

Bissett Beach is a narrow sandy beach with plenty of shade and features portable washroom facilities.

Note: The entrance is immediately before the start of a guardrail and is easy to miss.

Forsters Beach

Located at the Corner of Deep Bay Road and Forster's Road

This beach is adjacent to Forster's Boat Launch and offers full sun with some shade and features portable washroom facilities.

Horseshoe Beach

Located on Horseshoe Lake Road

This small beach offers great swimming and is in close proximity to the Minden Water Preserve and rapids.

Rotary Beach

Located on Rotary Park Road off of Highway 35, the beach is on the Gull River.

Twelve Mile Beach

Located on Chambers Road, accessed off of Highway 35 at Omagaki Road.

The Township's largest beach features a sandy beach, mix of sun and shade and portable washroom facilities.

Beach Testing

Lakelands Public Health conducts tests weekly at local beaches to test for E.coli levels in the water. Results are posted every Thursday and Friday on the health unit website. Warnings are also posted at local beaches or are available by calling 1-866-888-4577 extension 5006.

The health unit has a three-colour system of reporting beach results as follows:

Green: Beach is open/safe for swimming.
Yellow: Warning, high counts of bacteria may be present in the water. Swimming is not advised, as it may lead to illness, but those who do should avoid dunking their heads or swallowing water.
Red: Beach is closed due to high levels of bacteria; unsafe for swimming.
