Parks and Trails

Minden Hills' parks and trails are located throughout the Township and offers scenic views and natural habitats for you to visit and enjoy. 

Minden Hills Parks and Trails are open from mid-May until mid-October each year. 

The Haliburton ATV Association (HATVA) has multiple trails throughout the area for you to enjoy.

The Haliburton Highlands Nordic Trail & Ski Club offers day passes and memberships to use their many trails.

Located on County Road 503 across from Bacon Road, this park allows visitors to enjoy the sounds of nature and the Irondale River in a picturesque setting.

Located on Horseshoe Lake Road, this Park allows visitors to view the spectacular beauty of the Minden Wild Water Preserve and rapids. This park features a footpath along the rapids which offer great vantage points to watch the many kayaking activities that take place here.

The Poker Lakes area encompasses approximately 1,800 hectares of remote backcountry, provincial crown and municipal lands comprised of mixed forests and 12 lakes with minimal development. Camping/canoeing routes include 47 campsites and 10 portages. This is an ideal area for novice paddlers, families or anyone looking to have a relaxing and rejuvenating adventure in a natural setting. Located just upstream from the dam at Moore's Falls, this large grassy picnic area is perfect for family get-togethers.

Starting at the main entrance and parking lot at the Minden Hills Cultural Centre, this boardwalk takes you through a natural grass marsh with the option of continuing to the Minden Ball Diamonds or on to intercept the Stepping Into Nature Riverwalk, creating a lovely loop to include downtown Minden.

The Stepping into Nature Riverwalk is a self-guided, multi-media walking tour along the Minden Riverwalk, created by the Haliburton County Master Gardeners. Set in downtown Minden, this scenic trail features interpretive signs that highlight the area’s distinctive flora and fauna. The pathway follows the Gull River before looping across a footbridge that leads you back into town or onward to the Minden Boardwalk, where you can continue to the Minden Hills Cultural Centre or the Ball Diamonds. Whether you’re looking for a short stroll or a longer adventure, the route offers endless possibilities.

This elevated park overlooks the village of Minden and offers a beautiful setting for picnics and stunning fall colour viewing.  The trees provide natural shade while the paved roadway allows for cars to easily park and enjoy the stunning sites.

This beautiful park is located along the Gull River and features plenty of parking, a boat launch and small dock. There are two separate beaches, a playground, and multiple park benches, two picnic shelters, and plenty of grassy areas for playing. The onsite washroom is fully accessible.

Turn onto Rotary Park Road which is just south of the Highway 35 and County Road 21 intersection.

The Skatepark features multiple ramps and rails for all to enjoy on skateboards or bikes. Whether you are just learning or have some skills, there is an element you can try. The park sites next to a trail that connects to the Minden Boardwalk and is near the village of Minden.

This is the largest park within our township, consisting of 460 acres of beautiful mixed woodland. This park is a must see destination point for outdoor enthusiasts for hiking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, bird watching and many other outdoor activities.
