The Planning Department is responsible for Land Use Planning and Development within the Township.

What is Land Use Planning?

Land use planning is a systematic process that helps to shape the physical development of communities and helps manage growth. It involves making informed decisions about how land should be utilized while focusing on the overall well being of a sustainable community while seeking to preserve community character and balance societal needs. 

The Planning Department reviews development proposals and processes applications submitted under the Planning Act and is responsible for the overall planning and policy direction for land development in the Township of Minden Hills including Official Plan and Zoning By-law administration.
