Electronic Waste and Battery Recycling

Batteries and Electronics from residential sources are accepted by the Township at no charge. Please read the information below for more information about disposal.

Electronics from residential sources are accepted year-round at the Scotch Line Landfill.

Accepted Items
  • Amplifiers
  • Audio and video players
  • Cameras and digital cameras
  • Cell phones, pagers and PDAs
  • Computers and peripherals
  • Copiers, printers, scanners and fax machines
  • Monitors, televisions and video projectors
  • Radios, turntables and tuners
  • Receivers
  • Speakers
  • Telephones and answering machines

The following items can be placed in the scrap metal bins at any transfer station:

  • Fans
  • Small kitchen appliances (non-freon)
  • Vacuums
  • Hair dryers
  • Ceiling fans

Batteries are accepted from residential sources year round at all waste disposal sites. Please let the site attendant know that you have household batteries and ask how to dispose of them at each site.

Please place tape on your 9V and button battery terminals.

The following household batteries are accepted:

  • AA, AAA, C & D Batteries (single use & rechargeable)
  • 9V batteries
  • Button cell batteries (e.g. from watches or hearing aids)
  • Cell phone and small electronics batteries

Large batteries are accepted year-round at the Scotch Line Landfill.

Please ensure batteries are not leaking. 

The following large batteries are accepted:

  • Car batteries
  • Marine (boat) batteries
  • Motorcycle batteries
  • ATV batteries

Leaf and Yard Waste

The Township of Minden Hills accept leaves, grass clippings, pine needles and brush at select waste disposal sites. 

Yard waste cannot be disposed of in plastic bags. Paper yard waste bags or lose material (covered) is accepted.

Leaves, Grass Clippings and Pine Needles

Leaves, grass clippings and pine needles are accepted at Scotch Line Landfill only and cannot be mixed with brush or garbage. 

Brush

Brush is accepted at the Scotch Line Landfill, Ingoldsby and Iron Mine Transfer Stations. Branches must be 6” in diameter or smaller and cannot be mixed with other materials.
