Roads and Sidewalks
The Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all municipal roadways within Minden Hills, road construction projects, sidewalks, and municipal parking lots.
To report a non-emergency problem with your road, please contact the Public Works Department to let us know of a road maintenance need. Within 3 business days, someone from our department will reach out to you to provide you with an update.
Winter sand is made available at the Minden Curling Club. This sand is not for commercial use.
There is a limit of one 5-gallon bucket of sand per vehicle.
Sand is available on a first-come-first serve basis and is dropped off only after crews are finished plowing and sanding the roads. If there is no sand available, please return to check later.
If you are reporting a life-threatening emergency, please dial 9-1-1.
If you are reporting an after-hours municipal roads emergency, please call 1-866-856-3247.
Reportable after-hours emergencies include:
- Large roadkill (deer, moose, bear)
- Large washouts
- Flooding over entire road
- Downed trees blocking portions of the road
Please do not call the after-hours emergency line for:
- Potholes
- Shoulder washouts
- Small roadkill
- Partially flooded roads
- Parking lot maintenance needs
- Bad weather
Use the County of Haliburton Interactive Mapping tool to search your road.
- If your road is shown in red, it is maintained by the Ministry of Transportation.
- If your road is shown in orange (light brown), your road is maintained by the County of Haliburton.
- If your road is shown in brown, it is maintained by the Township of Minden Hills.
- If your road is shown in grey, it is a private or unassumed road and the residents of that road are responsible for its maintenance.
