The Building Department is responsible for overseeing and administering Septic System Permits and the Septic Maintenance and Inspection Program for the Municipality.

Winter Septic Inspection Information

Winter weather affects on-site sewage installation and inspections. Please keep the following information in mind when completing your project timelines:

• Septic inspections cannot be conducted during the winter months. If the ground is frozen, or there is snow on the ground, the conditions are not right to conduct a proper inspection. When the weather begins to get cold, please ensure there is enough time to arrange for an inspection when you contact our office.
• Septic inspections are not conducted during the winter months because the function and design of on-site septic systems are highly dependent on construction practices and the proper classification of the native soil on which the system is built.
• A site visit is required in order to get a septic permit. This requirement varies on a case-by-case basis, it is important to call our office and allow enough time for your permit to be approved.
