Subject: Program and Event Highlights at the Minden Hills Cultural Centre this Summer 2026

The Minden Hills Cultural Centre is pleased to announce summer programming featuring documentary screenings, community heritage presentations, outdoor movie nights, family movie matinées, and daily drop-in activities for children and families.

Documentary Screening Events

The Cultural Centre and Haliburton County Public Library will present two free documentary screenings this summer:

  • Bad Coyote (2013) – Thursday, July 2 at 1:00 PM
  • Love, Scott (2018) – Thursday, August 6 at 1:00 PM - Presented in partnership with Pride in the Highlands

Community Heritage Series

Visitors are invited to attend two special presentations highlighting the natural and cultural heritage of the Haliburton Highlands:

  • Trails and Waterways: A Journey Through Our Natural Heritage on Thursday, July 16, 5:00–6:30 PM

Local naturalist Rick Whitteker will share stories of the landscapes, wildlife, and waterways that shape the region.

  • Hands at the Loom: Weaving Heritage in Minden Thursday, August 13, 5:00–6:30 PM

Andrea Coysh will present a live barn loom demonstration and discuss local    weaving traditions and sustainable textile practices.

Outdoor Movie Nights

Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy a movie under the stars at the Minden Hills Cultural Centre. Admission is by donation. The movie screening will be indoor if it rains.

  • Treasure Planet (2002) – Thursday, July 23, starting at dusk
  • Tron: Legacy (2010) – Thursday, August 27, starting at dusk 

Friday Afternoon Movies

Presented in partnership with the Haliburton County Public Library, these free family-friendly afternoon screenings take place at 1:00 PM in the Welch Room. Light refreshments will be provided.

  • Paddington in Peru (2024) – Friday, July 31
  • Toy Story 5 (2026) – Friday, September 4

Daily Children's Drop-In Programs

Families are also invited to participate in daily drop-in activities running throughout July and August from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Designed for children and families, these hands-on programs will explore a variety of topics including art, culture, heritage, and nature through crafts, games, demonstrations, and interactive learning experiences.

The Minden Hills Cultural Centre is located at 176 Bobcaygeon Road, Minden, Ontario and is open from Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
