Waste Disposal Site Attendant

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and energetic individual to join our Public Works team in the existing position of Part-Time Waste Disposal Site Attendant. 

Reporting to the Manager of Waste Facilities, the Waste Disposal Site Attendant ensures safe and efficient operations of the Township’s waste disposal sites. This position provides superior and effective customer service to site users.

Position Details: 

  • Status: permanent, part-time. Non-union
  • Hours: up to and including twenty-four (24) hours/week between the hours of 7:30 AM and 7:00 PM. Hours are variable based on summer and winter operations and include weekends and holiday Mondays.
  • Rate of Pay: $20.97/hour 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • A minimum of one (1) year recent experience in a related position is preferred and within a similar setting is preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills including the ability to listen, responding with tact and courtesy.
  • Demonstrated high level of initiative, work performance, and responsibility in the performance of duties.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively multi-task.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • General knowledge of Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks regulations.
  • General knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and its Regulations.
  • Knowledge of job specific hazards and applicable safety rules.
  • Ability to process financial transactions as they relate to waste disposal fees.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public.  
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Additional Information:

This position involves working outdoors, exposed to weather elements and environmental hazards.

Prior to the final selection for this position, the candidate shall be required to provide, at their own expense, a Background Check from the Ontario Provincial Police or appropriate Police Force.
