Subject: Cooling Centre Open at SG Nesbitt Memorial Arena - June 29, 2026

The Township of Minden Hills is opening a Cooling Centre at the SG Nesbitt Memorial Arena (55 Parkside St., Minden) in the Lobby area, on Monday, June 29 to Sunday, July 5, 2026.

S.G. Nesbitt Memorial Arena Facility Hours:

• Monday, June 29 & Tuesday, June 30 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
• Wednesday, July 1 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
• Thursday, July 2 to Sunday, July 5 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

During a high heat alert, the public is reminded to:

• Drink plenty of fluids.
• Dress in cool, loose clothing and shade your head with a hat or umbrella.
• Rest frequently in shaded areas.
• Never leave infants, children, or pets in a parked car.
• Check regularly on family, friends or neighbours who are at higher risk of heat-related illnesses and who do not have air conditioning.
• Seek shelter indoors or in the shade.

Residents / visitors may also visit the Haliburton Library Minden Branch (176 Bobcaygeon Rd., Minden) during operating hours.

• Tuesday, June 30 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• The library is closed on Wednesday, July 1 for Canada Day
• Library reopens on Thursday, July 2 from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and
• Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
