Nomination Day – Friday, August 21, 2026 between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM
The deadline to file or withdraw a nomination to run as a candidate for the Office of Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Councillor at Large, Ward Councillor or School Board Trustee in the 2026 municipal election is tomorrow, Friday, August 21 at 2 p.m.
Individuals interested in running for the Township of Minden Hills Municipal Council in the 2026 Municipal & School Board Election must file nomination papers in person at the Township Administrative Office (7 Milne St., Minden) The office is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (excluding holidays). Tomorrow, August 21, the office will only accept nominations from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Please Note candidates for the 2026 School Board Trustee are to file their nomination papers with the Township of Dysart et al. Visit their website for more information https://www.dysartetal.ca/municipal-government/municipal-and-school-board-election/#QualificationsforSchoolBoardTrustees.
To complete the nomination process to run as a candidate, an individual must:
- File a nomination paper with their original signature (Form 1)
- Provide proof of name, signature and qualifying address within the Township of Minden Hills or the school board jurisdiction
- Pay a filing fee of $200 for candidates running for mayor and $100 for candidates running for councillor or school board trustee
- Provide at least 25 endorsements of nomination from eligible Minden Hills Voters with original signatures. (School Board Trustees excluded)
Both the nomination paper and the endorsements of nomination must be completed on the prescribed forms and have original signatures.
The final list of certified candidates will be available after the close of nominations on the Township of Minden Hills website.
