Planned Emergency Exercise: August 17, 2026
Propane storage facilities are required by law to do an emergency exercise at a minimum of every 5 years. The Budget Propane site at 11993 Highway 35 will be doing theirs on the evening of August 17th.
The Minden Hills Fire Department, with the help of the Algonquin Highlands Fire Department, will be doing a mock emergency exercise at the site. Trucks will be flowing water at the storage containers, and fire crews will be simulating fire attack and search and rescue activities.
The public should be aware of these activities and know that it is just a drill/training activities.
