Summer Student - Minden Hills Cultural Centre
We are currently accepting resumes for a Summer Student (Heritage Interpreter) to join the Minden Hills Cultural Centre team for the 2026 summer season, being a 16-week period, from May 9 to August 29, 2026.
This existing vacancy is an excellent opportunity for a student interested in Canadian history. Working with the Cultural Centre team, this position will benefit anyone who is in museum or related studies. Duties include (but are not limited to): greeting all visitors to the Minden Hills Cultural Centre, creating and delivering hands-on activities and demonstrations, providing tours of the heritage buildings, assisting with exhibit set-up and events, assisting with summer camp, working with the permanent collection of artifacts, gardening and cleaning.
The position is based on a 35-hour work week, Tuesday to Saturday, 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM with a ½ hour unpaid lunch. The rate of pay is $18.00 per hour.
To apply, students must meet Young Canada Works (YCW) eligibility requirements:
- Are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada (non- Canadians holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent status are not eligible)
- Are legally entitled to work in Canada
- Will be between the ages 16 and 30 at the start of employment
- Are willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment
- Will not have another full-time job (over 30 hours a week) while employed with the program
- Have been a full-time student (as defined by their educational institution) in the semester preceding the YCW assignment
- Intend to return to full-time studies in the semester following the YCW assignment.
Preference will be given to those with experience in art, history, museum studies, theatre, tourism, environmental studies or museum/gallery administration or related combination. Good public speaking skills and ability to work independently are required.
A clean Vulnerable Sector Check is required for this position.
