Water and Wastewater

The Township operates drinking water treatment and distribution systems in the Village of Minden and in the community of Lutterworth Pines, as well as a wastewater collection and treatment system in the Village of Minden.

Service Requests or Reporting an Issue

Contact the Public Works Department to make a service request or to report an issue or concern.

Who Takes Care of What?

All infrastructure from the property line to the house and everything inside the house is the responsibility of the property owner to maintain.

For example, if a sewer becomes plugged on the street side of the property line, the Township would be responsible for repair.

If a leak springs in the underground water line that runs under the front yard of the home, the homeowner would be responsible for repair.

Something Isn't Right…

If you have any of the following issues, please contact the Public Works Department:

You have cloudy or discolored water
- Watermain flushing or unusually high draws on the water system can cause cloudy water.
- First try running your cold water for a few minutes at an outdoor tap or in a bathtub.
- Contact the Township if the cloudiness or discoloration persists for more than 2 days.
Your water bill is higher than normal - first check for leaks or running toilets.
Your drains are draining slowly (or not at all)
- First, call a plumber and have them inspect the system within your home for breakages and blockages.
- Once your plumber has cleared the home of blockages or breaks, please contact the Township.
An odour is coming out of your drains
- First, run lots of water down your drain. Water in the drains keeps smells from coming up into your home. Your drain may have dried up, especially if it hasn't been used in a while.
- Contact the Township if this doesn't correct the problem after 2 days.
