Waste Disposal Cards

More

You are required to show a valid Waste Disposal Card or Waste Site Access Card in order to access any of the Township of Minden Hill’s Waste Disposal Sites. This card is valid from July 1 to June 30 each year.

2024/2025 Waste Disposal Cards

Each Minden Hills Property will be mailed their new Waste Disposal Card or Waste Site Access Card with their 2024 Final Tax Bill. You can expect your Final Tax Bill in June. The Waste Disposal Card is for the disposal of household waste as well as providing access into the Waste Disposal Sites.

The new Waste Disposal Card permits the disposal of an allotted number of clear garbage bags per year (the term of the card). Additional clear bags of garbage can be disposed of and will be subject to a fee.

About the new Waste Disposal Cards

If you have questions about the New Waste Disposal Cards, please review our FAQ. If your question is not answered we encourage you to reach out to the Public Works department.

Waste Disposal Cards are provided to every occupied residential property and business. The Waste Disposal Card is for the disposal of household waste. It also provides access into the Waste Disposal Sites.

New Property Owners

If you have recently purchased a property in Minden Hills, your Waste Disposal Card or Waste Site Access Card will be mailed to the mailing address on file.

Please allow 2-3 weeks for the delivery of your Waste Disposal Card or Waste Site Access Card.

If you have not received your card within 2-3 weeks of taking ownership of your property, please confirm the following:

  1. Check with your lawyer to ensure they notified the Township of the change in ownership for the property.
  2. Contact our Tax Department to check if your mailing address is correct in our system.

Renters

If you rent a home or apartment in Minden Hills for full-time residency, please contact your landlord regarding waste disposal.

If you are planning to rent your cottage out on a short term basis, please visit our Cottage Waste Disposal page for more information.

Trailer Park Residents

Waste Disposal Cards are not issued to occupants of sites within a trailer park. Please contact your park owner for assistance on disposing of waste.

Contractors

Contractors may apply for a Contractor Charge Account.

Why you must show a valid Waste Disposal Card or Waste Site Access Card each time you visit

By law, the Township of Minden Hills is required to confirm that those using the Waste Disposal Sites are residents of Minden Hills. We must also ensure that the waste that is being deposited at each site, originated within the Township. To ensure we comply with this requirement, Site Attendants check for a valid Waste Disposal Card. You will not be able to enter a Waste Disposal Site without one.
