How to Vote

  1. Check the Voters’ List to ensure you are on it, and your mailing address is up to date.
  2. Wait for your Voting Information Letter to arrive in the mail by late September.
    • Keep the Voting Information Letter in a safe place until voting opens on Saturday, October 10, 2026.
    • If you do not receive your Voter Information Letter in the mail by September 28, 2026, you can visit the Voter Information Centre at the Township of Minden Hills Administration Office (7 Milne St., Minden).
  3. Choose your method of Voting - 3 Ways to Vote: 
    • Internet, Telephone, or
      • Vote online or by telephone any time until the end of election day (October 10, 2026 at 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on October 26, 2026).
      • An internet voting station will be available at the Administration Office (7 Milne St.) excluding Election Day.
      • On Advance Voting Day (October 10, 2026) and Election Day (October 26, 2026), an internet voting station will be available at the S.G. Nesbitt Community Centre (55 Parkside St.)
    • Paper Ballot - Available on:
      • October 10, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the S.G. Nesbitt Community Centre (55 Parkside St., Minden)
      • October 26, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the S.G. Nesbitt Community Centre (55 Parkside St., Minden)

What You Need When Voting

Voter Information Letter:

Voter information letters will be mailed in September. If you lose your Voter Information Letter, do not receive it in the mail, or do not have access to it, please contact the Clerks Department via email or phone 705-286-1260 ext. 585. A Voter Information Letter is required for all methods of voting.

Identification will need to be provided, documentation completed, and an oath taken before a new Voter Information Letter is issued. Contact us or visit the office (7 Milne St., Minden). 

Voting In Person:

When coming in person to vote by Internet or Paper Ballot, please bring your Voter Information Letter and one piece of ID that has your name and qualifying address on it. Please refer to the Province of Ontario’s acceptable document list for identification below.

Voting At Home:

Please use your Voter Information Letter, which you will receive by mail, to vote online or by telephone. Your Voter Information Letter will provide instructions for you to successfully cast your electronic ballot.

Voter Information Centre

The Township of Minden Hills Election Team will provide assistance to voters for:

  • Voter Information Letters
  • Revisions to Voters List (additions, deletions, or corrections)
  • Methods of Voting

The election staff at the Township of Minden Hills Administration Office (7 Milne St.) are available Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except for public holidays. The election staff will have extended hours in September and October 2026.

The Township of Minden Hills Election Team are available Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with the exception of holidays.

We will have extended hours during the months of September and October, 2026. These hours will be dedicated to election related matters. 

Tuesdays in September and October our Elections Team will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Administration Office - 7 Milne Street, Minden. Also, for a few Saturdays in September the Election Team will be available from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in Council Chambers (7 Milne St., Minden).

Voter Identification

Voters are required to show proof of their identity and qualifying address. Common forms of identification that are used include an Ontario Driver’s Licence or Ontario Photo Card.

The Province of Ontario acceptable documents for voter identifications is included in the list below. Expand the list for the accepted documents.

 You must present one of the following documents showing your name and address:

  • Ontario driver’s licence
  • Ontario Health Card (photo card)
  • Ontario Photo Card
  • Ontario motor vehicle permit (vehicle portion)
  • cancelled personalized cheque
  • mortgage statement, lease or rental agreement relating to property in Ontario
  • insurance policy or insurance statement
  • loan agreement or other financial agreement with a financial institution
  • document issued or certified by a court in Ontario
  • any other document from the government of Canada, Ontario or a municipality in Ontario or from an agency or such a government
  • any document from a Band Council in Ontario established under the Indian Act (Canada)
  • income tax assessment notice
  • child tax benefit statement
  • statement of employment insurance benefits paid T4E
  • statement of old age security T4A (OAS)
  • statement of Canada Pension Plan benefits T4A(P)
  • Canada Pension Plan statement of contributions
  • statement of direct deposit for Ontario Works
  • statement of direct deposit for Ontario Disability Support Program
  • Workplace Safety and Insurance Board statement of benefits T5007
  • property tax assessment
  • credit card statement, bank account statement, or RRSP, RRIF, RHOSP or T5 statement
  • CNIB Card or a card from another registered charitable organization that provides services to persons with disabilities
  • hospital card or record
  • document showing campus residence, issued by the office or officials responsible for student residence at a post-secondary institution
  • document showing residence at a long-term care home under the Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007, issued by the Administrator for the home
  • utility bill for hydro, water, gas, telephone or cable TV or a bill from a public utilities commission
  • cheque stub, T4 statement or pay receipt issued by an employer
  • transcript or report card from a post-secondary school
